sense of self-sufficiency.
Progress provides
several types of supported employment that afford individuals with developmental
disabilities the opportunity to work in a job that is specifically appropriate
for them. The different types of supported employment are:
Work Enclaves
are a viable solution for men and women who have minimal work experience
and do not work well independently. Work is shared by a group of people
in a community job placement under the immediate supervision of a job
coach. Working as a group can provide these individuals with a greater
sense of security and confidence.
Individual Placement:
This program is for individuals who are hired at a company with the
same benefits as other employees. A Progress job coach is on place to
offer the supports necessary to enable the individual to be successful
in his/her placement.
Follow along:
is a program designed for those individuals who have mastered their
position, and no longer require an on-site job coach. Monthly contact
is maintained with both the individual, and the employer, to ensure
the success of the placement. Follow-along is primarily, but not restricted
to an individual placement.
Community
Participation
The Community Particiaption
program to exposes individuals to all aspects of community living through
cultural outings, social enrichment opportunities and volunteer activities.
The Community Participation Program has a valuable impact on the people
we serve as well as a profitable impact on our common community. Individuals
gain a sense of self worth, supporting local theaters, restaurants, museums,
grocery stores, clothing shops, etc. and businesses enjoy the financial
benefit of additional patronage and also the opportunity to attend to
a growing population in the community. This very special union is mutually
beneficial and affords people with developmental disabilities the opportunity
to be active, productive citizens.
