Residential
Services
Supported Living is a program enabling individuals
to live alone or with one or two others (and, in most cases, a staff person
to support them). Supported Living allows a person greater personal choice
about all aspects of his or her home life. We provide access to services
regardless of a persons level of ability, and work to support them
according to their needs and desires. Progress provides residential supports
in over 65 homes in Davidson and Cheatham Counties. The supported living
program was established in Cheatham County in 1997 to offer individuals
the opportunity to receive supports in the county of their choice.
Family Based Residential
Services (formerly adult foster care) is a residential program for
people with disabilities who choose to live in a home other than that
of their family of origin. The program currently serves eighteen people
in eleven Family Based homes. There are no more than two individuals that
live with a family in a Family Based Residential Service situation. The
person becomes a part of the family and participates in all family functions
and activities. Progress is authorized through the State of Tennessee
to locate, certify and monitor Family-Based providers. The program coordinator
is responsible for overseeing the care given to people who live with a
Family-Based provider.
