Volunteer Opportunities
Individuals with relevant career experience may find it rewarding to serve as members of standing committees of the Board such as Budget & Finance, Marketing & Development or Personnel & Policy.
Data entry, substitute or relief receptionist, filing, preparation of mailings, etc. - whatever time you have to give. Or perhaps you have time to make phone calls to schedule other volunteers for events or projects (Easily done from the comfort of home).
Provide afternoon refreshments - small groups, classes or individuals could host afternoon refreshments for clients returning from day activities while awaiting transportation home
Stitch & Mend Club: individuals with sewing skills could perhaps take on the task of mending clothing, re-attaching buttons, alterations and hems, etc.
Host a party, picnic or barbeque for some or all of the people supported by Progress. This would provide the opportunity to meet and directly interact with our special needs adults.
Be willing hands at a Progress party or function - assist with planning, serve on committee, decorate, serve food, organize or run activities or games.
Our folks do love to dance! Host a special event for clients, such as a Halloween Party or Valentine Dance - at Progress or another location.
Provide home-baked cookies or muffins for a special event, class, meeting, or as a special treat for weary staff.
"Detailing" the interiors of the Progress fleet of vehicles that are used to transport clients. This could include washing windows, vacuuming carpeting and washing seats and armrests. Great service project for a youth group.
"Adopt A Home" - Do you live in an apartment but still feel the need to work the soil or cut the grass? Enjoy washing windows? (Or at least the end result!) Need to thin out your seasonal decorations? Whether for spring cleaning, gardening, lawn maintenance or even holiday decorating, Progress can always use help! With approximately 70 homes spread out over Davidson and surrounding counties, we're likely to have a home convenient to you that could use a little TLC!
Special Event Support: to help address the budget shortfall, and to help raise awareness, Progress holds special events. Volunteers are welcome to serve on the organizing committee, help by picking up donations, assisting on the day of event, i.e. with registration/check-in or perhaps serving or selling refreshments. And there's never enough hands to help with break-down and clean-up following an event!
